Week 6 Final Sketches

I chose to use this book of garden flowers as a canvas for my final sketches because it adds another relevant element to my design. Each of the pages that I have drawn on contains a flower that encompasses some kind of memory or feeling within me.

The design of the stained glass skylight was based on a light that hangs within my home.

Final sketches- a combination of hand done sketches, PhotoShop and SketchUp. I feel that the book as a canvas for the drawing, and the hand done elements of the sketches allow the viewer to understand how the room will feel and what it will be used for; that is reading and relaxing. The SketchUp elements allow the viewer to understand the scale of elements within the room in relation to each other, and the PhotoShopped photos taken at the boat sheds determine the location of the room. The use of PhotoShop also helped me to include parts of my room that were difficult to create in SketchUp.

CryEngine Photos

My model uploaded into CryEngine- 20 snapshots showing various views and  lighting.

CryEngine/Sketchup.

I used PhotoShop to combine my Sketchup and CryEngine images as I had difficulty importing my entire component into CryEngine. Combining these images allowed me to show a good idea of how the interior of my model might look in CryEngine.

Each of the flowers on the pages that I have drawn on are significant to me and remind me of different people and places in my life. I have also included some of the walking maps that I used in my design.

Developing Ideas

Walking maps.

Walking maps connecting photo frames.

Walking maps connecting elements of the room by being etched into them. (Plan view).

Walking map connecting elements of the room. (Section view).

Looking at the concept of the 29th of February- holes in the wall where walking maps start from. (29 holes with 4 walking maps, showing 4 real birthdays).

Perspective drawing of connecting walking maps and stained glass skylight.

Cubes and photos connected by the walking map- the cube is also a speaker for the photograph- the cube being in a different part of the room describing what is happening in the photo/ the sounds are relevant to the photo in some way.

Cube speakers, photos, lowered circle with flower pillows. The speakers should be close to the pillows so when you are relaxing in that space you can hear the different stories/songs/sounds to do with the photos that will be in different places around the room. Also, the cubes should not be restricted to being stuck on the ground and could be on the walls too.
